Lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo that deposits specialised pigment into the lips using a fine needle. It enhances natural colour, corrects asymmetry, and gives the illusion of fullness. Designed to look like a soft tint rather than a solid lipstick
Immediately After Treatment
Lips may feel swollen, tender, tight, and appear brighter immediately after treatment. This is completely normal
and will gradually settle during healing.
Immediate Aftercare (First 24–48 Hours)
Keep the Lips Clean: Gently blot the area with a clean, damp cotton pad to remove any excess lymph fluid,
blood, or ink. This helps prevent excessive crusting and keeps the area clean.
Ice Application: Apply ice packs wrapped in a clean cloth intermittently during the first few hours after treatment
to reduce swelling. Use 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off.
Keep Lips Dry: Avoid excessive moisture during the first 48 hours to reduce scabbing and pigment loss.
General Aftercare Instructions (First Week)
Moisturising: Apply the recommended healing ointment or lip balm frequently throughout the day to keep the lips
hydrated and comfortable.
Avoid Water & Food Contact: Try to keep lips dry during the first day. Drink through a straw and avoid spicy,
salty, or acidic foods that may irritate the lips.
Gentle Cleansing: From day two, gently cleanse the lips twice daily with lukewarm water and a mild,
fragrance-free cleanser. Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel.
Avoid Picking: Do not pick or peel flaking skin, as this may remove pigment and affect healed results.
Cold Sore Prevention: If you are prone to cold sores, continue preventative medication exactly as advised by
your healthcare provider.
No Kissing or Rubbing: Avoid kissing or rubbing the lips against anything during healing to prevent infection and
colour loss.
Avoid Makeup: Do not apply lipstick, lip gloss, or any lip makeup until fully healed.
Limit Sun Exposure: Keep lips protected from direct sunlight, as UV exposure can fade the pigment prematurely.
No Swimming or Soaking: Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms for at least 2 weeks.
Avoid Smoking if Possible: Smoking may slow the healing process and irritate the lips.
Healing ProcessHealing occurs in stages and varies from person to person.
• Initial swelling, tenderness, and tightness are normal.
• Lips will appear very bold immediately after treatment but will soften significantly during healing.
• Peeling and flaking are expected, typically between days 3–5.
• Lips may temporarily appear lighter before the colour resurfaces.
• Full healing generally takes around 4–6 weeks.
Long-Term Care
Moisturise Regularly: Keeping lips hydrated helps maintain colour and prolong pigment retention.
Sun Protection: Use an SPF lip balm daily once healed to protect the colour from fading.
Annual Touch-Ups: Depending on pigment retention, annual colour refresh appointments may help maintain the
desired result.
