Semi-permanent eyeliner is a cosmetic tattoo treatment that enhances the lash line and defines the eyes with
long-lasting pigment. The treatment can create anything from a soft lash enhancement to a more defined eyeliner
look, helping the eyes appear brighter, fuller, and more awake without the need for daily makeup application.
Immediately After Treatment
Eyes may feel watery, swollen, tender, or sensitive immediately after treatment. Mild redness, puffiness, and
occasional bruising are normal and should gradually settle.
Immediate Aftercare (First 24–48 Hours)
Keep the Area Clean: Use a clean, damp cotton swab to gently dab the eyeliner area to remove any excess
lymph fluid, blood, or ink. This helps prevent crusting and irritation.
Cold Compresses: Apply cold compresses or ice packs wrapped in a clean cloth intermittently to reduce swelling
and discomfort. Use 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off during the first few hours after treatment.
Avoid Contact Lenses: Wear glasses instead of contact lenses for the first 24–48 hours to avoid irritation and
rubbing.
General Aftercare Instructions (First Week)
Avoid Water: Keep the treated area dry for the first 48 hours. Avoid direct water spray on the face and do not
submerge the face in water.
Do Not Rub: Avoid rubbing, touching, or applying pressure to the treated area to prevent bacteria transfer and
pigment loss.
Gentle Cleansing: After the first 48 hours, gently cleanse the area twice daily using lukewarm water and a mild,
fragrance-free cleanser. Pat dry gently with a clean, soft cloth.
Avoid Makeup: Do not apply makeup near the treated area, including mascara and eyeliner, until fully healed.
Avoid Lash Extensions: Avoid lash extensions or lash treatments during the healing process.
Sleep Elevated: Sleeping slightly elevated may help reduce swelling during the first few nights.
No Eye Makeup: Avoid all eye makeup during healing to reduce the risk of infection and pigment disruption.
No Swimming or Soaking: Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive heat for at
least 2 weeks.
Limit Sun Exposure: Wear sunglasses outdoors to protect the area from direct sunlight, which may cause
premature fading.
Avoid Excessive Touching: Keep hands away from the eyes and avoid rubbing or scratching the area while
healing.
Healing Process
Healing occurs in stages and varies from person to person.
• Light swelling, redness, and mild sensitivity are normal immediately after treatment.
• The pigment will appear darker initially and soften during healing.
• Mild flaking or light scabbing may occur and should be allowed to fall away naturally.
• Some fading during healing is completely normal.
• Final healed results are usually visible after 4–6 weeks.
Moisturise & Protect: Once healed, apply a small amount of clear, fragrance-free ointment if needed to keep the
skin comfortable and maintain pigment longevity.
Sun Protection: Continue protecting the eye area from prolonged sun exposure by wearing UV-protective
sunglasses.
Annual Touch-Ups: Touch-up appointments may help refresh colour and shape over time.
